I will play another solo concert for the PAMBA Farmdale Mountain Biking Festival.
I joined the worship team and opened for Downhere on the baseball field at Northminster Presbyterian Church. I played Nothing But The Call while the bugs crawled on the frets under my strings! See pics here.
I will end my three-year exile and return to the platform as a worship musician playing guitars at the new contemporary service at Northminster Presbyterian Church.
I will be playing the Guitarsenal at the AOK Summer Cookout at the Peoria Outreach Center.
As many of you know, I have felt a growing passion for urban ministries here in Peoria recently--especially since I began helping with the chapel services at the Peoria Rescue Mission. Saturday I will be lending my hand--er, fingers--to the partnership of two ministries I respect: The Peoria Outreach Center and Dream Center Peoria. These are getting together to host the Acts Of Kindness (AOK) Summer Cookout--one of several annual events in the local zone around the Outreach Center. This will be the same set I performed for the Midwest Mountain Bike Festival on May 3 (with perhaps a little extra). My fingers are hoping for warmer weather (I remember being on stage and saying, "I can't feel my fingers!").
I will be playing the 414 in the chapel service at Peoria Rescue Ministries as part of the Rescue Mission Ministries team from Riverside Community Church. The question is, will I be able to keep my composure enough to sing? Simple list:
Be Thou My Vision
Mighty To Save
Again
I will be playing electric guitar for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Northminster Presbyterian church. This is an exciting opportunity for me to really grow as a guitarist in a disciplined environment where I must read music (a full score!) and fit in with an orchestra. I have done this as a bassist a handful of times, but never as a guitarist.
21-Jul-2007. The concert was a blast. God gave perfect weather, and no one was injured. Listen to our arrangement of Join My Voice with Heaven (sung by Rob Weber). I think the recording captures a hint of dunamis that I hope we will continue to build on.
I will be joining House of Worship for a Concert of Worship held at the Zion Oaks Tabernacle in Pekin, IL.
Line-up:
Tim Churchill (rhythm guitar, vocals)
Rob Weber (keyboards, vocals)
Steve Davis (bass)
Kathy Davis (vocals)
Gene Harkness (drums)
Will Spicher (RG1570, T5, vocals)
Mike Kerby (tech, MC)Special thanks to Zion Evangelical United Methodist Church for making the Tabernacle available. I found a brochure with a bit of history describing the rich heritage of the Tabernacle which I find quite intriguing: "Camp meetings in the Groveland area date back to 1852. At that time people gathered for open air meetings and camped at the site. In 1890 a tent began to be used to hold the camp meetings. The Tabernacle was built in 1921. The Tabernacle continues to house the annual camp meetings keeping a tradition alive that began in 1852."
An offering will be taken which will first be used to reimburse the church for the cost of the Tabernacle. The remainder will be donated to John 17 Ministries of the Greater Peoria Area.
