If you are a pretty girl that I have Loved (and if I Loved you, then you are
a pretty girl—by definition), then there are some things I want you to know
about my Love for you: I gave it to you wanting to make your life better—in all
aspects. As I wrote, "Love is the foundation of all Virtue. It is the
force that drives me to seek your highest, fullest, and deepest Good. It causes
me to want you to be healthy, happy, whole, strong, fulfilled, restful,
peaceful, etc…"
I also felt (and still feel) my Love was empowered by God (Who invented it, if
nothing else). That is why I capitalize "Love" and related words here. I hope
that comes through in the song because it was the central theme, sensation, and
inspiration around which I wrote it.
And there is something I would like to know: Long after I no longer miss the
sound of your voice, the sparkle in your eyes, the warmth of your words, and the
anticipation of spending time with you—after grief has turned the pain of losing
all these things into memories that I will cherish forever—I still want to know
something very important to me:
Was my Love at all fruitful and effective? Did it produce anything good for you
and in you?
This is what my Spirit drove me to say when I wrote this song.
After all, you once told me, "Love is a very deep word."
I could not agree more.
I have big ambitions for this song and hope for a full production. It will be unlike anything I have ever published. However, my production skills have become quite rusty with six years of inactivity, and I really wanted to get this recorded—to get something finished! That being said, I am really happy about the way it turned out, more than I expected to be. Many of you have tried to tell me that the simplicity of me and my guitar is more effective than I give it credit for. Perhaps I am learning.
So the recording is simple: the portable Zoom H4n recorder strategically placed to get a good balance and tone on both my voice and my guitar (Taylor 814ce) while I monitor the recording with in-ear monitors. Then straight into Sony Vegas, with rudimentary audio processing, for editing.
